FIG1 Figure Drawing 1

Learn the fundamentals of figure drawing. This course is designed to help you develop your anatomy understanding, posing & gestures. This course covers all parts of drawing the figure with a process-oriented approach. Each week, the instructor will take you through various topics including gesture, figure construction, head drawing, anatomy and more. This course will guide you through 10 weeks of drawing live from models, critiques and draw overs.
This course is 10 weeks in duration and meets once per week for 3 hours per meeting.
Each week, the online classes are live at the specified time (PST timezone) in a private GOTO-MEETING classroom. Classes are recorded and students can rewatch via stream for the duration of the term. Class links, teachers notes, class recordings along with homework submission will be hosted on a private class DISCORD. The DISCORD link will be sent approximately 5-7 days prior to your class start date to the registered email address.

Meet Your Instructor
Steven Michael Hampton is an artist and educator in the fields of drawing, anatomy, and two- dimensional design. He has lectured and led workshops at private companies and schools such as Anatomy Tools, Blizzard Entertainment, CGMA, IDEA Academy, and Lucas Arts. Steven has exhibited extensively throughout the U.S. and has additionally curated exhibitions in Los Angeles relating to themes of kitsch, monuments, and mourning, including Super-Salon (Flagstop), Traumatic Materiality (Autonomie), and Savage Sentimentality (Torrance Art Museum). For several years he was a board member of the Foundation for Art Resources (FAR), helping to organize Pacific Non-Standard Time: FAR 1977-Present, among other projects. Steven received his BFA from Art Center in Illustration, his MFA in Painting from Claremont Graduate University where he received the Karl and Beverly Benjamin Fellowship, an MA in Art History from University of California, Riverside writing his thesis on “Bad Painting and Kitsch,” and is currently completing his PhD in Art History at the University of California, Riverside. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgPj2jSpcJaN6C5xMi8ohfg
